ATM EPP Compliance & Lifespan Guide (Canada)
EPP (Encryption Pin Pad) compliance is a Canadian ATM requirement that affects whether your machine can stay online.
This guide summarizes the current deadlines and model lifespans and shows how to record EPP versions for compliance reporting.
- Compliance deadline for Version 1 EPPs: April 1, 2027
- Required reporting step: log EPP version in WEBMON before February 2026
- Risk: non-compliant machines can be fined and terminated from the switch
Quick Answer: What is EPP compliance for Canadian ATMs?
EPP compliance means your ATM’s PIN pad meets the encryption standard required by Canadian networks.
Version 1 EPPs have an extended compliance date to April 1, 2027 — after that, non-compliant ATMs can be removed from service.

Tip: If you don’t know your EPP model/version, we can help identify it from your ATM details.
Why EPP Compliance Matters for Canadian ATM Owners
EPPs are the encrypted PIN-entry devices inside an ATM. Canadian ATM networks require compliant encryption standards to protect cardholder PINs and keep terminals eligible for routing.
What happens if an ATM is not EPP-compliant after the deadline?
If a non-compliant EPP is found after April 1, 2027, a $1000 CAD fine can be applied and the ATM can be terminated from the switch immediately.
When do I need to record my EPP version?
For Interac reporting compliance, EPP versions should be logged in WEBMON for every terminal before February 2026.
Authority note: This page is based on a TNS Smart Network compliance notice dated April 1, 2025, shared to the channel for Canadian ATM portfolios.
Canada EPP Compliance Deadlines
Version 1 EPPs received an extension — the compliance date moved from December 31, 2025 to April 1, 2027.
- By February 2026: record EPP versions in WEBMON for all terminals
- By April 1, 2027: all ATMs must be running compliant EPPs

What is the difference between Hyosung 8000R EPP part numbers?
ATM operators often ask about differences between Hyosung 8000R EPP part numbers such as:
7130320100, 7130370100, 7130020100, 7130020101, 7130220100, and 7130270100.
🔑 Quick Answer:
All of these are EPP8000R (PCI 3.0) keypads. They use the same core hardware platform, firmware family, and repair process.
🔑 Big Picture
- Same core hardware platform
- Same firmware family (V10)
- Same repair process
- Functionally interchangeable in most cases
🧠 What the part numbers actually mean
Hyosung part numbers (7130XX0100 / 7130XX0101) are not random. They typically represent:
- Hardware revision
- Region or keypad layout
- Mounting or harness variation
- Compliance or production batch
🔍 Part number groups explained
Early / Base Variants
- 7130020100
- 7130020101
- Older production units commonly found in NH1800 machines
- 0100 vs 0101 = minor internal revision (no operational impact)
Mid Variants
- 7130220100
- 7130270100
- Updated hardware revisions with small internal improvements
- Often tied to specific ATM models
Later / Newer Variants
- 7130320100
- 7130370100
- Later production units
- Common in Halo II, 2700, and 2800 series ATMs
🔥 What actually matters (for operators)
- All versions use the same firmware family
- All follow the same repair process
- Same USB / serial behavior
- Same common failure points (battery, boot, keypad wear)
⚠️ Real-world differences:
- Firmware shipped: may vary (layout controlled by firmware)
- Cable / connector: minor install differences only
- Compliance batch: internal certification updates
- Manufacturing revision: small PCB/component changes
👉 Bottom line: For most ATM operators, these part numbers are functionally interchangeable — what matters more is condition, firmware, and compatibility with your specific ATM model.
How to Record EPP Version in WEBMON
To report Interac compliance for ATMs installed on TNS, EPP versions are recorded inside WEBMON (Terminal Ext tab).
- Navigate to the Terminal Ext tab in WEBMON.
- Add a new extended value.
- Label the type as EPP Version No.
- In Value 1, enter the installed EPP version (example format: 8000R – V10.01.05).
How do I know which EPP version to enter?
Look on the back of your keypad for a small sticker that says “Version”. You should see something like V10.00.05. Or use your ATM’s configuration/service records or have your technician confirm the installed EPP model and version. If you’re unsure, contact us and we’ll help verify what’s installed.
